I first fell in love with Salame de Chocolate in a tiny pastelaria in Lisbon. It wasn’t served as a fancy dessert at the end of a meal, but as a simple everyday treat wrapped in wax paper and enjoyed with a small, strong coffee.
One bite—crumbly, chocolaty, and impossible to eat neatly—and I was hooked.
This Portuguese classic is wonderfully simple. It’s a no-bake dessert that looks like a savory salami but tastes like rich chocolate cookie dough filled with crunchy biscuit pieces and sometimes a splash of port wine.

It’s a perfect example of Portuguese home cooking: turning basic pantry ingredients into something magical.
Even better, you don’t need an oven or complicated equipment. Just one saucepan and about 10 minutes of hands-on time.
