Crispy Tofu and cow Meatballs

These Crispy Tofu and Beef Meatballs bring together the softness of tofu with the rich flavor of beef, creating a dish that’s both light and satisfying. Golden and crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy inside, they work beautifully as appetizers, snacks, or even as a main dish served with rice or vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 450 g (1 lb) firm tofu

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 small piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced

  • 2 green onions, finely chopped

  • 3–4 star anise

  • 1 small handful Sichuan peppercorns

  • 1 medium carrot, finely diced

  • 300 g (10.5 oz) ground beef

  • 30 g (2 tbsp) bread crumbs

  • 30 g (2 tbsp) crispy meat powder (or simply use more bread crumbs)

  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 2 tbsp cooking oil for frying
